2005 Excellence in Coordinated School Health Recognition Awards Program Winner School Counseling, Physical and Behavioral Health Services - Outstanding Leadership Awards Union 74 Union 74, with strong administrative and superintendent support, has long maintained quality school counseling programs and comprehensive physical and behavioral health services. The communities have supported budgets for a high ratio of school nurses to students and a school-based health center that is located at Lincoln Academy. The school-based health services reach into the elementary schools. There is excellent enrollment in the school-based health center and students without health insurance can obtain health services though a grant and other innovative funding sources. Good coordination of health services within the district help to institute a seamless approach to student health services. Students expressed confidence and comfort with the health services and school counseling program. School health policies are comprehensive and staff has the opportunity to participate in policy development through the Coordinated School Health Program Leadership Team. Families, students and staff are kept informed of school health policies. Efforts to ease the transitioning of students from elementary to high school has made this process a positive experience for students.
